Enrique Nava received the Ingeniero de Telecomunicación degree (B.S. and M.S.) and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Madrid, Spain, in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He has been an Assistant Professor (1990–1994) and Associate Professor (1994–present) at the Universidad de Málaga, Spain. He is the head of a multidisciplinary research group on medical image processing techniques. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA (2000), RWTH Aachen, Germany (2011 and 2014), UNSW@ADFA Canberra, Australia (2012), and LAPI-UPB Romania (several short stays) and he has participated as researcher in one Marine Science campaign onboard the Miguel Oliver Oceanographic Ship (2015). His research interests include applied signal and image processing, and numerical methods, usually, in close collaboration with researchers from others fields, as radiology, human physiology, analytical chemistry, mechanical engineering, acoustics, entomology, and marine science.
